A few years ago, it felt like Jennifer Lawrence was in everything. Fortunately, she’s taken a little break but she’s returning in the upcoming film, mother!, which is being directed by her boyfriend, Darren Aronofsky. Recently, Lawrence opened up to Vogue about her relationship and how difficult it was to prepare for such a dark project.
Of meeting Aronofsky, the 26-year-old actress said, “We had energy. I had energy for him. I don’t know how he felt about me.” Describing the 48-year-old directer as “brilliant,” Lawrence went on to say, “I’ve been in relationships before where I am just confused and I’m never confused with him. I normally don’t like Harvard people, because they can’t go two minutes without mentioning that they went to Harvard. He’s not like that.”
Despite their 22-year age difference, the two coupled up almost a year ago and things seem to be going well. Lawrence also praised him for helping her stay positive and sane while on-set. “I had to go to a darker place than I’ve ever been in my life,” she said. “I didn’t know if I’d be able to come out OK.”
To balance out the serious atmosphere during production, Aronofsky created a Kardashian-themed tent where Lawrence could escape and shake off the negativity. “It was a tent that had pictures of the Kardashians and Keeping Up with the Kardashians playing on a loop—and gumballs,” Lawrence explained. “My happy place.”
