Two of the world’s biggest superhero stars are good friends. We can only imagine what they talk about behind closed doors but, publicly, they keep things very civilized and professional. Recently, Benedict Cumberbatch chatted with Tom Hiddleston for Interview Magazine and the erstwhile Sherlock Holmes (soon-to-be Doctor Strange!) promised to steer clear of certain topics.
Hiddleston first became a household name for playing Thor’s brother, Loki, but, now, he’s been in the headlines for a decidedly less-than-thrilling reason – he dated Taylor Swift and, now, it’s over. While, we can expect her to pen some stupid song about their time together, Cumberbatch was not interested in dredging up that piece of recent history.
In the issue, which hits the stands on October 4, 2016, Cumberbatch addresses the presumption that people in the spotlight should have to share their most intimate details with fans as well. Of course, that’s not fair despite the fact that fans seem to be demanding more and more from celebrities.
Cumberbatch added: “Without getting into a huge debate, I just want to say that I’m not going to ask questions about my friend’s personal life just because there are unsolicited photographs of him and a certain someone, in a relationship or together. I’m not going to get into that. So that door is closed, dear reader.”
Hiddleston, who confirmed that he and Swift have remained friends after their split, thanked him for the respect for his privacy and Cumberbatch replied: “You’re welcome. I know you’d do the same for me.”
One thing that’s interesting is that the pair also discussed their biggest fears. Cumberbatch, a new father, said that getting older scares him since he looks at his new son and hopes to be around to see him grow up. In response, Hiddleston said: “Mine is regret. I fear looking back and wishing I had done things I hadn’t.”
Yeah… let’s see what kind of song Taylor Swift writes about Hiddleston. Then, he might truly know the real meaning of regret. Just saying…
